Lou Gehrig Red 15U defeated East Coast Pipeline 16U – Ruggiero 11-1 on Sunday thanks in part to seven runs in the first inning. Christian Arzola doubled, scoring two runs, Riley O’Brien doubled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and an error scored two runs.
A single by Andrew Aquino extended the Lou Gehrig Red 15U lead to 8-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
Lou Gehrig Red 15U added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Joel walked, and Lou Gehrig Red 15U scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.
Caleb Lorefiece (Rapp) opened the game for Lou Gehrig Red 15U. The starter surrendered three hits and one run (zero earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking none. Connor Blest began the game for East Coast Pipeline 16U – Ruggiero. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and seven runs (three earned) over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two and walking three.
Riley O’Brien and Andrew Aquino each collected two hits for Lou Gehrig Red 15U. Christian Arzola, Jacob Bencic, Riley O’Brien, Andrew Aquino, and Joel each drove in one run for Lou Gehrig Red 15U. Lou Gehrig Red 15U had patience at the plate, collecting 10 walks for the game. Alex Abreu and Joel led the team with two walks each. Alex Abreu stole two bases.
Matthew Urbino led East Coast Pipeline 16U – Ruggiero with one run batted in. Cam Carroll, Alex DeLuca, and Connor Blest each collected one hit for East Coast Pipeline 16U – Ruggiero.
